TIPS before starting on Clean Eating challenge

Hey guys, before we begin with the challenge and we go through the eating planning I would like to give you a few tips.

TIP ONE – Veggie Box (for salads & wraps)

I don’t want to get you scared by looking at all the veggies that are available on the “meal planning suggestions” and moaning about the time it will take to prepare it every time.

I do have a solution to that. It will take you max 2 times a week to prepare it for about half an hour and later is everything like a puzzle. I promise!

Let say that Sunday will be your day of preparations for the week ahead. Buy a “veggie box” like this one on the picture bellow. I think I bought it at IKEA for little more than an Euro. It’s worth it. It’s big enough to store enough but at the same time small enough to fit in your fridge.

Cut and prepare all the veggies and put them in separate departments.

Veggie Box

Cut the carrots, zucchini, cucumber, radish and chicory. Keep cherry tomatoes outside of the fridge to keep the sweet taste (in the fridge they loose the flavors and become pretty much tasteless).

–> Now you have veggies ready to prepare Green salad and Wrap on stand by. You can maybe even make it enough and keep it for the whole week; cucumber is the only one that goes slimy after 3-4 days.

–> The same way you can do for the Crudités, late veggie snacks and veggie cravings. You will never gain weight by eating vegetables, so knock yourself out!

TIP TWO – Spreads storing

Yoghurt dip, Hummus (about a week lasting), Nut butter (at least five weeks lasting) are spreads that you can make upfront. The same with Tuna spread and Chicken; you can keep them for about four days. Make this thing on your preparation day and when there is time for your meal will be much easier to just puzzle the items together.

You will avoid unhealthy eating, no more frustrations about time consuming meals, easy to transport with you to work. No excuses anymore!

Store it in smaller boxes and save it all in the fridge (except the nut butter).

Even eggs you can boil upfront. Boiled and stored in the fridge will last for about 3 days; for sure!

TIP THREE – Roasting the nuts & seeds

You don’t need to do it, but it tastes so much better. Turn the oven on 180 degrees (ventilation program). When warm, put in the trays with nuts. Don’t mix them, because they most probably need different times to be golden color. You need pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts, almonds, peanuts and any other nuts you like. It wont take too long, make sure you keep an eye on them. Every once and them stir them, specially is in more then on layer.

When golden color, take them out and let them cool down completely, before you store them away. As well you wont taste the crunchiness if they’re still warm.

–> Use them everywhere. In salads, wraps, for breakfast in the smoothie…

TIP FOUR – Drink water, water, water

Buy yourself a nice BPA free bottle and carry water with you anywhere you go. Let the water become your best friend. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day!

PS: BPA is chemical that is used in plastic. In too big quantities can harm your health, something you don’t want! Instead of trying to figure it out how much BPA is in the bottle you buy at the shop, just get yourself a BPA bottle. 😉

And remember…we can do it! <3
